We recently had to send our youngest, Zac in for Grommets. Last year he got Chicken Pox @5 months old and for 4 months after that every 2-3 weeks our little man got an ear, nose and throat infection. Because of his age and it being the prime age for speech development (9months when we went to the ENT) He advised us that grommets were in Zacs best interest especially since he had had 5 ear infections in 4 months. It was a long 4 months!

When Zac was under anesthetic the doctor did some blood tests to check if it was allergies causing his infections. That came back all clear, his white blood cell count came back all clear, but what did not came back positive was his IGG levels and IGA levels, which is immunoglobin levels, and specifically the IGA which is what helps fight upper respiratory infections. The ENT said we need to brace ourselves for a journey of infections because of this as its the most common and not many doctors treat it as it is not life threatening, however because Zac is still so little our Paed, who also happens to be a professor and is a Pulmologist so this is his area of expertise, may want to see us so he forwarded the results onto him. In the past month I never heard anything from him so we took it as its all good , but when taking Zac for vaccines this week our midwife said we should pop into his rooms and just double check.

Well I did and he looked through the results and is concerned about them and wants to start testing to find out exactly what is causing Zac to have low immunity levels. These tests all start today with a physical exam.

So being a mom, I rush to google, never even looked before because the ENT was not to worried, but our Paed is so conservative and the fact that he is concerned worried me. Word of advice DO NOT read google! 3am this morning when Zac woke up from teething pain I decided to read up and gosh did I land myself on the worst possible page with the worst case scenarios… all I saw was ‘Cause CANCER!!!’ ‘DEGENERATIVE muscle tone as they get older!’ etc etc. Now this is just one disease that causes low immunity levels and probably the worst one, Zacs case could well just be he needs some immunoglobin injections and he will be 100%, but as a mom we start to panic about all the worst case scenarios.

While driving to school drop off I was thinking talking and thinking and talking to God. CRYING out please don’t let it be worst case scenario!

God reminded me that I need to allow Him to take control. I need to stop trying to control the situation and TRUST him. But he is my baby boy, I am his momma and I need to protect him, and thats when it hit me. I am giving him the best protection by allowing God to take control and protect him.

We so often try and pick and choose what we allow God to control in our lives, just incase it does not turn out the way we want it to. We need to realise that God wants only the best for us, even more so than we want the best for ours and our families lives. We need to let go and allow God to be the driver and trust him. I am the first one to give every situation to God and always tell Mike to have Faith and Trust God. He may not always do things in our timing but He never lets us down. But somehow the last 24 hours I have struggled to take my own advice and have Faith and Trust him.

Philippians 4:6-7 ‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.’

1 Corinthians 2:5 ‘ so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.’

Where do you rest your faith? In mans wisdom or in Gods power. Today with everything that is within me I am trying to choose to rest my faith in Gods Power. Our doctor who we trust our children lives with, may be a professor and he may be one of the best and he may be so very knowledgable, however, Gods power is so much greater than that, and today and everyday moving forward I am not living in fear of what if? whats wrong? is my baby boy going to be ok? I am choosing to believe and have faith that every test will come back perfect and even his immune levels will correct themselves, that our doctor who is also a Christian, can say to us, God has worked!

So if you facing something similar I urge and encourage you to meditate on these scriptures, trust God to take control of your situation and allow God to move on your behalf!
