If you are a mom of children between the ages of 2 and 6 you will understand these phrases… ‘I don’t like this!’ ‘I’ve never eaten this before!’ ‘This is yucky!’ ‘I want something else!’. Well these are the comments we get on a regular basis at the dinner table, most of these before a spoon of food has even entered their mouths. Mikes favourite meal that I make is chicken wraps and as that is a favourite it has not always been practical for the kids for dinner in their younger years, so they would get deconstructed chicken wraps and eat the filling individually.
Enter our precious Zac and life at dinner time suddenly got a whole lot busier. So mom had to try come up with quicker meals to make on those hectic evenings. The one night I just didn’t have time to cook so the girls got some fish fingers and chips and Mom and dad got tuna wraps. Well the girls basically ate half of our wraps when they tasted them, because you know mom and dads food is always better than mine.
So tuna wraps are now a family favourite.
Wraps
Tuna (I mix with cottage cheese for a healthier option)
and anything else you want the kids to eat that they normally wouldn’t.
We add baby english spinach, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, sometimes some cooked corn as well.
Well my girls demolish those wraps in minutes and always ask for more AND ‘can we have them for lunch tomorrow mom?’
Try giving them Baby spinach on their plate and their noses get turned up, try corn and its the last they eat. This way all the good food goes in and they enjoy it and the bonus for mom, it is so quick and easy, and on these hot days we having that you don’t feel like cooking they the perfect family meal.
I am looking forward to the day they can create their own wraps 🙂
